CranioSacral –How it can help!
Thank you to our model, Michael S.
What is it?
The CranioSacral system consists of the Brain, Spinal Cord, the Dural Tube (which encloses, protects, and feeds the central nervous system), the Skull, and the Sacrum. The methodology to treat this system was developed by John E. Upledger in the 1970’s. upledger.com
The Brain and Spinal cord are covered by 3-layered Dural Tube going from the brain to the sacrum. This tube has its own pulse of 8-11 beats per minute. The pulse moves the cerebral spinal fluid through the Central Nervous System, cleaning out debris and bringing it nutrition.
How can this system be damaged?
- Bone Breaks
- Muscle pulls or permanent spasms in muscles
- Falls, especially on the tailbone or back
- Chemicals and toxins – vaccines, glyphosates, other toxins in air and food
- Childbirth – trauma during childbirth can affect both mother and baby
- Trauma to the head – direct hit, hitting head getting in the car, whiplash
- Dental work, and much, much more……
Some of the problems/symptoms which can occur are:
- headaches/migraines
- persistent sinus problems
- speech problems
- hearing and visual impairment
- coordination (especially noticeable with children and teens wearing braces)
- dystrophy of soft tissue
- malfunction of internal organs (stomach, spleen, liver, gall bladder, etc.)
- hormonal imbalances
- autism tendencies
- ADD/ADHD
- running into things (like always hitting the side of doors or running into a table)
- symptoms diagnosed as muscular dystrophy or multiple sclerosis
- in babies: twisted tongue or limp-baby-syndrome
- Stress/Anxiety/Fearfulness
- Dental work, surgeries, anything that can damage the CNS or nerves running to it.

Who can get CranioSacral?
Anyone – from newborn infants through end of life.
What is a session like?
- The client can keep their clothes on, except for belts and shoes.
- Usually, they lie on a table on their back (this can vary with client needs).
- The therapist VERY GENTLY touches/holds portions of the skull, spine, and sacrum to release blockages and allow the system to correct itself.
- Often the clients actually go to sleep and into deep relaxation during the session.
Some of my successes include:
- Children: Limp babies, Tongue ties, Head shaping, Autism, Constipation, Nursing
- Young Children to adults: Stuttering, ADD/ADHD, Autism, speech problems, clumsiness, inability to make decisions, seizures
- Adults: Stroke victims, recovery from procedures, endocrine imbalance, IBS, etc.
- ALL AGES: Anxiety, Panic, Fears (biggest group at this time)
- Tongue tied (many)
- Stroke victims (many)
- Autism (main core of my Craniosacral work for many years)
- Stuttering (several people of various ages)
- Fear, Anxiety, ADD/ADHD, Panic (main core of my Craniosacral work at this time)
SER (Somato Emotional Release)
An advanced CranioSacral method that helps the client tap into blockages in the body that contain memory (known as cell memory). Once those blockages, which may have been impeding healing progress, are recognized and processed, the person can continue on their healing journey – mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Brain Speaks
This is also an advanced CranioSacral method, similar to SER except that we work directly with subconscious memories in the brain.
Often, for SER and BrainSpeaks we get people recommended by talk therapists when the have been stuck on an item and are not making progress. This is because they can only talk about things they consciously remember, but often there is a subconscious issue that the person cannot remember. Once they remember it, healing can continue much more smoothly on all levels.
